Lefties such as Barack Obama and Angelina Jolie have made being left-handed cool. But being left-hand dominant also comes with some drawbacks. Here’s what you need to know to help your little lefty shine.
The cool thing about lefties
A large percentage of the world’s creative geniuses, from Leonardo da Vinci to Jimi Hendrix, are left-handed. Lefties are also more likely to hold positions of power–four of the last five U.S. presidents have been left-handed. (The righty was George W. Bush.) Why the advantage?
The right hemisphere of the brain controls left-handedness and lefties appear to have an advantage in right hemisphere functions, such as visual concepts, creativity, art, music, and sports requiring good spatial judgment and rapid reactions.
